MOODY BLUES

28.12.20

Finishing off the last few days of this year with something a little less strenuous on the legs. Although it was a little uninspiring, there were two seals swimming around the harbour, one of which came right up the the breakwater and just stared at me for a minute then got spooked by a fishing boat.

WILD COAST

27.12.20

Le Jaonnet Bay is no secret but it does require a little extra effort to get to, especially after three days eating your own body weight in food. The waves were fierce and the sound was like thunder as it hit the rocks. Just managed to dodge the showers too!

CHRISTMAS DAY

25.12.20

Another year, another successful and fun packed Christmas done and dusted. This is Alana’s 10th Christmas and although I don’t notice it too much, every now and then I see the little lady starting to appear from within.

ONLY THE BRAVE

23.12.20

I take my hat off to all the fishermen out there who brave the treacherous seas in the winter. We take for granted how easy we’ve got it sometimes. The rain behind the boat was really churning up the sea, luckily it was drifting away from them.

CHRISTMAS STREET

22.12.20

The shortest day has passed but the nights are still long. It’s cold and wet but if you look around closely, there’s daffodils starting to appear. Spring will be here before you know it but for now, enjoy the cosy nights in front of the TV and Christmas with the people you love.

ROAD EDGE

21.12.20

Not really sure what made me take a picture of this. Went for a blustery walk around Icart at lunch, nearly took off it was so windy! Keeping my head down to keep my face dryish, it seemed to catch my eye. Abstracty Guernsey roads, classic pine tree roots destroying the roads and the needles to add detail.

JERBOURG

14.12.20

For the first time in six years I went out with a drained battery in my camera. I normally check the night before but for the last few days I just didn’t bother. Luckily I had a spare in my car which was half a mile away when I realised but I managed to salvage some of the stunning light when I made it back.

MOULIN HUET

As the tide recedes, Moulin Huet transforms into from treacherous rocky coast to a golden sandy beach. Half way down you get a mix of sand and strange spongy rock formations which created hundreds of rock pools to play with. Besides the cold, this place is an amazing playground with the camera, especially in the winter.

This was about 08:30, just as the sun was rising over Jerbourg.

LITTLE CHAPEL

11.12.20

A festive looking Little Chapel with the added blue lights which I think really add life to the building at night. I’ve been informed there’s been complaints to do with religious beliefs and the colors of the church so FYI, they are only switched on between 16:00 and 20:00 during December.

NATIVITY II

10.12.20

Today was Alana’s turn to perform her role as a sheep. Bless her, she has way more confidence in front of a crowd than I ever did (or have). Scary thing is, next year will be her last nativity before heading off to secondary school!
