Road trip Guernsey style! Travel 7 miles along the length of the west coast, walk 15 minutes across the Lihou causeway, quick lap of the island and back home again.

This is an alternative take on one of Guernsey’s cherished pastimes, ormering. Rubber glove against the blue sky, cooked in Snapseed.

Cooking oil mixed with water in a pyrex dish, coloured plastic plates and iPhone light underneath. First attempt at this, mixed results ;o)

Slowly approaching her first birthday, she’s almost full size. I love having a gecko in the house, completely harmless and great fun when she jumps between objects. It dawned on my a few days ago why I’ve always wanted a gecko as a pet. For those who grew up in the 80’s and 90’s, you might remember the little alien Puckmaren from a film called ‘Flight of the Navigator’? I think that’s where it all began!

Deep in the rural heart of St Peters you can escape from the world in the quiet country lanes and admire the stunning Guernsey cows along the way.

Wind direction was ideal for a long exposure of the Bathing Pools this morning. Although I’m completely over this area (mainly overshooting and laziness), I still keep coming back for ‘just one more shot’, hoping the perfect image will fall into place.

Myself, along with the 20 other swimmers, can safely say that it was a stunner! Once the sun broke through the clouds the glow behind me was gorgeous. The bare tree trunks were really accentuating the colours. The walk back up with all my gear was the only down side.

Beautiful L’Ancresse on an icy cold winter morning. Even the beach was frozen where the fresh water runs off the common onto the beach!

Taking myself out of my comfort zone for this. One of my biggest setbacks in photography is approaching strangers and asking them to take their photograph. Maybe it’s the fear of rejection or even the pressure to get it right in a few click. That said, put a pint between us and I could happily chat for hours! Either way, from what I’ve read, the more you ask the easier it gets.

Noticed a few pockets of mist hovering over some streams on the way to work which reminded me of this stream running through Les Vauxbelets valley. Would have been nice with a touch of frost on the grass but still a lovely calm setting.

Once again, forced into the night with a lack of inspiration. The power station is only used now as backup to meet demand in the winter months and it’s in these peak hours that the generators are running which in turn is the only time they produce the steam which for me helped to balance this shot out.

First day back at work and relentless rain really doesn’t make things easy when you just want a nice simple shot. After all these years, one thing that I have come to terms with is that not every day will be your best shot but, things can only get better!

If there was ever a good reason for me not to drink on new years eve then this would be it. Felt sub zero up here first thing, the roads were iced over and my hands were burning they were so cold! Sunrise wasn’t great but I saw a massive rain cloud moving in so waited another half hour and then the magic happened.
