POWER OF RAW

263.365

I learnt a valuable lesson today.  Always check your metering before you shoot.  By default I always opt for Evaluative mtering but with a strong back-lit subject this dragonfly was almost a silhouette. Luckily for me the details were retained in the files.

TROLLS BRIDGE

Some days these two drive me mad.  They kick, they punch, they laugh, they cry,  but I'll always love them no matter what :)

MORNING GLORY

259.365

This is the spot I ventured down to a few weeks back.  The time seemed right to head back and see how the early sunlight would hit the cliffs.

JUPITER'S BEARD

Hawkmoth II

Like clockwork, the same Hawkmoth turned up at exactly the same time and location as it did a few weeks ago. Happier with the results this time as there is some depth between the flowers and the subject. The speed these moths move, you have seconds to compose.

GRANDE HARVE

For a few moments it felt like the summer had retuned, and then the storms continued!

SILVER STUDDED BLUE

Last attempt to photograph some butterflies this year before they disappear into hibernation for the winter.

HANOIS

254.365

The powerful forces of nature battering the west coast.  You have to admire the engineering of a lighthouse, being able to withstand some of the most brutal waves without leaving a mark.

GOLDEN PATH

253.365

Slept through the alarm again but manged to get above Fermain just as the sun and rain made an appearance. There was a huge rainbow around the corner but the driving rain was not in my favour!

JERBOURG

252.365

Part of this ongoing project is to revisit, rework and hopefully improve on locations I've tried before.  Shooting the same composition doesn't really challenge the imagination.  Inspired by a recent club competition, this is my variation on the Jerbourg headland.

The rainbow was a lucky bonus :)

SEPTEMBER RAIN

251.365

As if someone has just flicked a switch, summer is well and truly gone but from a photographic point of view this weather is perfect!

HIGH & DRY

250.365

Last minute attempt to capture the day, Alana decided she wanted to join me to take pictures with her camera.  She told me she wants to take a picture everyday and put them on her wall :)

THE FLY

249.365

Up close and personal with a Flesh Fly.  Not the most attractive insect in the world but very striking eyes with a slightly shocked look on its face.

DUNES

248.365

Quite a windy evening along the west coast but I love that wintry feeling in the air.

HUMMINGBIRD HAWKMOTH

247.365

One of the most challenging shots I've taken to date.  These little buggers just don't stay still and to make things even more challenging, it was raining and I got the shakes with excitement. Sounds weird but it happens when you've been after something for years and you get minutes to compose and capture it!

CAT BOY

Only our son would quite literally drink the cats water from its bowl!  This is also how he drinks the milk from his breakfast bowl! Ha :)

SANDS OF TIME

244.365

First day of Autumn and it was spent mostly on the beach in 20° of sunshine.  So much happiness from the blankets of sand we have on our doorstep.
