THE VALDIES

11.01.18

An updated version of the Val de Terres, similar to a shot from last year but I wanted to be a bit more adventurous with editing.  Very basic curves and colour adjustments with a few minor tweaks on top.

LE PIED DU MUR

10.01.18

Marble Bay, one of my most visited spots for obvious reasons but this morning was a bit of a gamble.  Clear blue skies are normally a nightmare to work with but a few clouds rolled in at the right moment which helped an otherwise uninteresting sky.  Almost had a teaser of spring today!

LITTLE CHAPEL

09.01.18

The newly refurbished chapel has been fitted with internal lighting which really lifts the atmosphere inside.  Great job by everyone involved with the restoration project.

You can see the progress here http://thelittlechapel.gg/

THE CHASE

08.01.18

There's an abundance of birds around the island, but waiting for one particular bird to position itself where you want it just takes time and patience, and cold fingers.

You can almost guarantee a robin will spend most of its time around a particular patch of land.  If you loose it, hang around for a while and it will return, probably watching closer than you think.

LAZY SUNDAY

07.01.18

Other than an afternoon walk to the fairy ring, Sunday mainly consisted of films, food and doing absoultly nothing.  Alana was happy writing notes to her teacher and composing a report on the recent storms :)

WAVES

05.01.18

The winds have calmed a little but for the third day in a row the west coast has taken another battering.  I got absolutely soaked and this sums up 2018 in a nutshell!

FISHERMANS STORE

04.01.18

One of my 'short walks' around Le Gouffre I like to revisit ever now and then.  I've got a thing for rustic old fishing shacks which just take me as far away as possible from a working life behind a monitor.

Lighting conditions were less than ideal but you need to keep returning to different locations throughout the year and one day the persistance will pay off.

STORM ELEANOR

If you hadn't already noticed, the weather was pretty wild out on the west coast this morning.

MMXVIII

I needed to get out to clear my head after last nights celebrations and the sky was looking imporessive for most of the afternoon.  Had to ditch the tripod as the winds were too strong.

THE END

365.365

Three years, 1096 days and a lot of hard work but I started these projects as a 'training' exercise which admittedly went a little further.

Something which really dawned on me this morning is how much Alana has changed in those three years.  Watching her having her hair done made me see a young lady, rather than a little girl.  Forcing myself to take pictures every day has made meant I will have these memories to look back on when we're all older!

I now feel I can move on and think of this as where it all began.  I will still take photographs every day but focus more on long term themed projects.  Or maybe tomorrow morning I will decide to do it all again :)

Happy New Year!

ZEN

364.365

With the crap weather seemingly never ending, I hid myself away in the streams running down to Moulin Huet in search of somethign a little more relaxing.

SALINE BAY

Grandes Rocques taking the full force of the wind this afternoon.  Turned into a constant battle with sand and sea spray.  Nothing a cloth and water can't sort out!

HORIZON

360.365

Attempting to recreate one of my favourite images from 2017 in the hope of some dramatic sunlight poking through the clouds.  Unfortunately I had to abort before the tide cut me off.  Still omanaged to grab this shot of the rain passing by over Jersey.

POINT AND SHOOT

359.365

It's not about material goods, but both kids received a camera from Santa this year.  Alana keeps asking to take a photo every day like me.  The best advice for a child, point and shoot anything and everything.  Make it fun and ditch the rules.

CHRISTMAS ELFIE

358.365

Keeping the tradition going, we headed out for our annual family photograph in the woods.  Setting the 10 second timer with two very excited children is quite a challenge :)
