The sunset that didn't quite happen! There was a brief splash of colour appearing in the sky but that faded away pretty quickly. Turned my attention to aonther well known feature of Rocquaine, the fishing boats.

Went hunting for insects around Port Soif nature trail and noticed loads of caterpillars. Quick Google search revealed the larva of a Five-Spot Burnet Moth.

This foxglove caught my eye with its almost ornamental siting against the rock and the fern. Turns out the Old English name derived from a myth that foxes would magically wear the flowers on their paws whilst they made stealthy raids on the rural communities!

Prowling the streets of St Peter Port like a cat under the cover of darkness. Pretty quiet on the roads, had to wait over half hour for two car trails to merge together! Yes, I could have merged two together but that would be too easy.

Spent our Sunday afternoon celebrating Daniel's 5th and Albie's 2nd birthday with the family. As always a great spread by Michelle (you feed us well)!

Rousse harbour pre sunrise this morning. A slight breeze in the air making the low water mark silky smooth. One obvious reflective image had to be caught!

Another misty and murky start to the first day of June although it was still very warm. Looking back down the valley towards the beach, it almost felt as if I was in the middle of a tropical jungle!

We saved a hedgehog from the road, checked him over and sent him on his way at L'Ancresse common. Focus is a little on the soft side but I liked the composition.
The kids agreed to call him Mr Wiggles because his nose was wiggling.

Something I've shot a fair few times this year, more recently during the snow storms. I'm always revisiting and reworking at different times of the year, hoping the 'perfect' conditions will fall into place.

The ageing Japanese Pavillion at Saumarez Park. Quite extreme editing from my part, trying to emphasize the misty mood with a cooler atmospheric style.
28.05.18
Dragged my butt out of bed shortly after 04:15 only to have to wait over nearly 90 minutes for the sun to pop up over the clouds. Coffee in hand I just sat down and admired the views.

Perfect way to relax on a Sunday evening, soaking up the last of the last of the sun and taking in the stunning views across the channel.

Spectacular lightning display visible across the whole island tonight! Had to wait out the rain before trying to set up in the pitch black. A few test shots and I got what I wanted :)

Part of what makes Guernsey so unique can be found in the stunning cottages and farmhouses dotted around the island.
Beatifully presented and it could be yours for a cool £735,000!

Got up early this morning to a disappointing and grey sunrise so it turned into a mid afternoon bug hunt. I had hoped to find some bigger crickets but they seemed to be hiding themselves extremely well today. This cricket was no bigger than a finger nail.

Stuck for time and ideas, I headed back Les Vardes Quarry. Fascinating to watch and listen to the crusher grinding down the giant boulders of rock.
22.05.18
A peaceful end to the day, still waiting for some decent cloud cover. Looking forward to good thunder storm!

Alana and Harriette made their Rainbow Promise tonight as they move on to a new adventure with the Brownies.
Managed to get all the kids together afterwards for a quick shoot.
One for the bike enthusiasts out there. This caught my eye on my way home this morning around the Bordeaux coast road. It also sums up how empty the roads were at 06:00 on a Sunday morning! I did have to take a moment to appreciate how lucky we are to live here.

The difficult life choices that come with living on a small island. I choose the pixels, they chose the fish.
