Edible yellow fungus Laetiporus, commonly know as chicken fungus because apparently it tastes like chicken!

After yesterday’s adventures, today was like a slap in the face until it stopped raining on my way home. Saying that, shooting at night is great because the light doesn’t really change giving you more time to slow down.

Pure bliss down on the south coast this afternoon. The only footprints were those made by the birds. Found my spot and just waited for the right moment. It really is all about the light!

If you have an interest in the Guernsey Folklore ghost stories, this area is said to be home to La Bête De La Tour, a large black dog with bright red eyes and heavy chains who prowls the streets at night.

Our not so little girl turned eight today. She drives me mad sometimes but I love her more than she’ll ever know :)

Spotted the tip of this bright vibrant tree driving along Rue a l’Eau. The grounds are bit unloved and the house boarded up which reminded me of a classic film I watched as a kid.

With winter just around the corner, the weather plays a big part in managing this project. The only way I can get through the winter months is to plan a few days in advance with different locations for different weather scenarios. When it all goes wrong, ill have to come up with a plan b, c or d!

Dodging showers and slippery steps to get down here dry and in one piece. Definitely feeling the leg muscle and cardio improvements!

Another fine example of a classic and beautifully restored Guernsey farmhouse. The remains of the old water wheel are hidden on the gable end of the barn opposite.

Good or not, there’s a picture to be found anywhere you go. I nearly gave up with this area but spent a few more minutes looking and walking around to end with this.

The higher parishes were under a thick blanket of fog for most of the day. Probably pissed off a lot of travelers that couldn’t get a flight out the island!

The coastal woodlands almost completely stripped bare with a few leaves hanging on. One of those scenes where the fog adds atmosphere to give an eerie autumn mood.

Down by the small fishing harbour at Le Gouffre. This unspoiled stretch of coastline has probably changed very little in the last few hundred years.

Autumn colours in Fermain Valley. Just over a year I’ve waited to re-shoot this spot. Just loved the way the sunlight falls into the valley and backlights the vibrant golden leaves on the tree.

Not only do I obsess about the weather, the tides play a big part in planning a shot. Rousse is one of those extremely flat beaches which covers very quickly so anything higher than a 2-2.5m tide makes these boats off limits for wide, close ups.
