It seemed a little odd to see a chicken sat randomly doing nothing in a field. A closer inspection revealed a smaller surprise! Then out popped three chicks.

Not my best version but something always draws me back to this spot. The wind was insane but high up in the atmosphere the jet stream was topping 200mph!

For those days when inspiration is running very low, head to a local park and just wander round aimlessly. Most of the time something will stick out. If it doesn’t, just look harder!

This is one if the islands smallest and oldest chapels, dating back to the 1300’s. It’s temperature controlled to around 14°C to protect the medieval wall paintings on the ceiling.

Within a minute after taking this shot, that ominous looking rain cloud had already unknowingly crept in behind me and clearly had no sign of waiting for me to pack away.

Bracing the full force of storm Freya approaching from the Atlantic. This was was a case of sheltering from the wind and waiting for the sun to burst through the clouds. The sand blowing up the dunes was getting everywhere, but I have faith in the Canon weatherproofing!

Went for a walk around Chouet hoping to find some birds or prey. I did find a buzzard but got distracted by the ear piercing call of this peacock in the field below. I was lucky enough to see it in all its glory and I knew in my mind exactly the shot I wanted.

I had set up at Le Guet, waiting for a rainbow to appear over Cobo. That quickly turned into a wet and windy disaster so headed for shelter in St Matthews Church. Played with a few light combo’s and settled for one single lamp over the organ.

This heron really doesn’t care about people, he’s more interested in catching every last fish in the pond. It’s easy to find and photograph, the personal challenge is trying to capture him in the best possible light. This was about 09:30 and apart from a few blown out feathers, I think I’m finally happy and can let this one go.

The hottest winters day on record across the Channel Islands with temperatures peaking at 18°C. It’s been a great few weeks of weather but some clouds to play with would be nice.

Les Vardes quarry is slowly coming to the end of it’s life and no doubt the next generations will only know this as a deep reservoir. I can’t begin to imaging how many tonnes of stone have been extracted from here but it’s helped shape our islands infrastructure for decades.

So proud of our little boy. Today he made the big decision to ditch the stabilizers and within 30 minutes he was flying! He was so happy with himself and I got a little bit emotional for him . Moments like these come and go with the blink of eye.

I’ve lost count as to how many times I’ve driven past here and tried to visulaise exactly how I’d capture it. Today I had my breakthrough. What a stunning house though, looks even better in spring when the trees in bloom.
