Since I started working down Vazon, I seem to spend a lot more time at Portelet. I’ve always loved the fishing village vibe on the west coast and there’s never any shortage to photograph.

Set out looking for frogs, came out with a Great Green Bush Cricket. One handed macro isn’t the easiest, even when the subject is this big but he stuck on my finger just long enough before gliding off into the reeds.

This little dude turned 6 today. He still gives the best hugs and makes me laugh with his cheeky humor. To say I put off having kids for a years, the love and happiness they bring is something you can’t find anywhere else. Happy birthday Finley!

Went back to the patch I visited a few days ago. The bad news, half has been mowed, the good news, they sensitively left half to let nature do it’s thing.
Towards the end of the day, you can notice the butterflies hide near the ground making it extremely difficult to get a clear shot through the grasses. This is the best I could get.

Spoiled for choice and species in the fields with the warmth of the summer sun. This is one of the smallest butterflies in the UK and getting a close macro shot in the wind is tricky but out of 100 shots, 5% were in focus!
