Amazing start to September. Actually just spent most of my lunch on the rocks behind the fort, soaking up the sun and watching the boats on the horizon.

The humble garden spider. Are you a lover or a hater? Watch out for those ones that come out from under your sofa with the TV light casting a shadow that makes them look like tarantulas!

With summer almost gone, its coming to that time of year when the weather changes in a matter of minutes. With more moisture in the air and stronger winds, you get some fascinating sun rays beaming out from behind the clouds.

Desperately trying to avoid the ‘norm’, cruising down Talbot Valley, the light shining through the trees caught my eye. Quick u-turn to grab what I could. It looked better in my head though.

Being a tourist, exploring the eerie World War II german trenches surround the gun emplacement at Pleinmont. With the winds howling overhead, it gave me a little insight into what these soldiers endured, especially during the winter.

The motivation just wasn’t there again today. Macro is great to fall back on, if you can find the subject. Butterflies are out in abundance at the moment but no doubt they won’t be around for much longer.

Of all the Loophole Towers dotted around the island, this one has to be my favourite. Amazing views out over the north, across L’Ancreese bay and an elevated view as far as Castel church to the south.

A few days ago I found a great butterfly spot next to the reservoir but most are only active when the sun’s out. The one butterfly you can always rely on to be out and about, whatever the weather, is the common blue. Hard to spot but being so small you can maximize the depth with macro.

An accidental find hidden deep a Buddleia bush, probably a Jersey Tiger Moth but there’s a fair few variations of this kind. I was following some butterflies round, and these bushes are heaving with them at the moment, until this caught my eye.

It’s with great sadness that this is our last day with Milo. Unfortunately due to a number of things that are out of our control, mainly noise complaints, we have had to find a new home for him. We agreed it was unfair to carry on the way it was so had to make this tough decision.
Behind the smiles, both kids will be devastated but they know it’s happening and no doubt the reality will set in pretty quickly. Hopefully a humongous Lego set each will help soften the blow.
We will never forget him and even though he tested my patience, he was loved by all of us.
