POND LIFE

27.06.18

Spend a little time looking around and you'll find all sorts of wildlife.  Finally found the huge monster crickets I remember from my childhood, but this frog caught my eye hopping around the edge of the pond.  Had to go into super stealth mode to get down low enough to get a photo.

PETIT PORT

26.06.18

From desk to beach in just under 15 minutes.  Quick photo in the cave then the rest of my lunch was spent chilling on the rocks by the sea.  Lush!

BEC DU NEZ

25.06.18

Another charm of Guernsey's east coast, a small fishing harbour tucked away between Fermain and Marble Bay.  The weather peaked at 25 making it feel like the Med under the midday sun.

L'ANCRESSE

24.06.18

I have no words to describe how stunning this sunset was, even 30 minutes after the sun had gone down the colours just expolded.  Almose surreal to see but a perfect end to the weekend!

THE DEEP END

23.06.18

Stunning morning in GY1 with hardly a breath of wind and silky smooth waters.  Worth getting out of bed for?  Never a wasted journey to watch the sunrise!

TOWNSCAPE

22.06.18

Got a little stuck for inspiration this morning so went for a view over St Peter Port from the Mignot Plateau, taken about 15 minutes after sunrise.

OYSTER CATCHER & CHICKS

21.06.18

I ditched this evenings landscape effort when I noticed an Oyster Catcher feeding it's young in the distance.  As a nature lover I had to get this shot but I didn't cause any harm to the birds or attempt to touch them and as soon as mum noticed me, I moved away.

MEADOW BROWN

20.06.18

Hundreds of Meadow Browns floating around the Pleinmont headland in the thick fog this afternoon.  They seem to settle in the long grass making it difficult to get a clean background.  Sat on a step to cool down and one settled on the cow parsnip next to me.

FOG BOUND

19.06.18

Another foggy and humid start to the day on the south coast, a stark contrast to this evenings beautiful sunset.

This is the real Guernsey in all it's moody glory!

BRITISH SUMMER

18.06.18

It's part of Guernsey life, one week of sun, the next week grey cloud.  We're all used to it, and we also love to complain about it.

HOT ROD

17.06.18

Beautifully crafted and minimal dashboard in the 1934 Ford Hot Rod displayed at the Classic Car Show.

HARBOUR CARNIVAL

15.06.18

Trying out some new locations for the Harbour Carnival fireworks display which seemed to work ok.  I always favour an elevated perspective and try to incorporate the surrounding areas into the scene.  Quite a few merry folk joined me to watch :)

RED ADMIRAL

14.06.18

Red Admiral looking a bit lost on the ground after an entire acre of a local nature reserve had been completely cleared of vegetation.  I know someone has to manage the land but this same field wasn't cleared till late September last year.  A simple mowed path would have been enough!  Rant over.

HAZY DAZE

13.06.18

Up at the crack of dawn again down on the Careening Hard on a perfectly still hazy morning.  Very difficult to get the white balance correct on this with the cool blue/green from the water, and warmer orange/purple clouds above.

GREEN LIZARD

12.06.18

Same time, same place, I appoached with a but more caution than yesterday eventually getting a few shots before it scurried off into the bushes.

Not a sharp image but I was quite pleased I managed to at least record a sighting.

COMMON BLUE

11.06.18

Headed out in search of these 'Green Lizards' I keep reading about.  I did find one but I stupidly managed to scare it away before I managed to get a picture.  The one I clocked was about the size of a water dragon and very, very green.  Frustrating but there were plenty of Common Blues floating around.

SEAFRONT SUNDAY

10.06.18

Out of all the Seafront Sunday's held over the summer, the arts one is definitely our favourite.  So much more entertaining for the kids and you even get to meet an alien in the Vale Earth Fair tent!

BORDEAUX RAIN

09.06.18

The heavens were open but a small window of opportunity was appearing towards the north of Herm.  Hid myself under an umbrella and went for something easy. Impressive rainbow to the west shortly after sunrise which was nice to see.
