BORDEAUX ISLETS

19.09.18

There’s definately a change in the air at the moment. Tail ends of storms, stronger winds and strangely warm temperatures. Mixed together and you get some pretty awesome colours in the morning.

BREEZY

18.09.18

The most frustrating and painful macro shoot to date. Shooting in high winds with millimeters of focal plane to work with is challenging enough. Start swaying the subject around in force 5 winds and the hit rate is a game of luck. One shot in focus out of 20 frames and I was belly down in stinging nettles!

WATER LANES

17.09.18

The tranquil water lanes of Moulin Huet. Dating back hundreds of years, built to carry the water through the valleys, it really does feel like you’ve stepped back in time.

ABOVE

15.09.18

The stunning East coast cliff paths heading down to Fermain Bay with the Pine Forest and Marble Bay in the distance.

NOSTALGIA

13.09.18

A nostalgic treat seeing these phenomenal planes back for the annual air display. Apart from the Eurofighter Typhoon, the Red Arrows are up there with the greatest sounds and sights I’ve ever witnessed.

P51-D MUSTANG

12.09.18

1944 American fighter on display at the Aero Club this afternoon. Impressive plane capable of reaching speeds of 460mph, also nicknamed ‘The Blue Nosed Bastard of Bodney’.

PAINTED LADY

10.09.18

The Victorian garden at Saumarez Park is a sanctuary for butterflies at the moment. In 15 minutes I spotted this Painted Lady, Red Admirals and Great Whites with a Hummingbird hawk-moth thrown in. The hawk-moth was a little bit trickier to capture, little buggers don’t tend to stay very still!

WASTELAND

09.09.18

One they don't want you to see in the travel brochures but the end of an era for us Guerns.  Image all of the lost valuables accidentally thrown away that are now buried forever under millions of tons of waste!

INTIMATE LANDSCAPES

08.09.18

Saturday morning down Saints Bay (again) but this time my focus was on the details of the landscape armed with a 50mm and some filters.

The sun just started to rise over the Jerbourg headland lighting up the cliff face and the underside of the clouds.  Really helped lift the photo in my eyes.

BRUCE LANE

06.09.18

The outskirts of the urban heart of Guernsey, leading down to the east coast.  Not quite the sandy beaches of the west but full of character and charm.

GREY HERON

05.09.18

Swung past Rue des Bergers on the way back to work, hoping that I'd get a Kingfisher sighting.  No Kingfisher but a Grey Heron well off in the distance wading around.

WOLFDOG

04.09.18

Went searching for some smaller details and spotted a random lock slowly rusting away in the wall.  10 points for guessing where it is!

LOCAL PATCH

03.09.18

Nothing much happening in the skies this morning so I turned my attention to a place I feel I know like the back of my hand.  It's a bad habbit always turning to a safety shot so often but when you've been on it for nearly 4 years, every day, it really doesn't matter.  I just see it as gentle practice!  1341 days down, 111 to go...

ROUSSE PIER

02.09.18

Sunday morning watching the fishermen head off into the distance for the daily catch.  Spent the rest of my day building sand castles and swimming in the sea.  5th sunniest summer on record apparently!

COBO

01.09.18

Beautiful calm and hazy morning out on the west coast.  Autumn may be here but Guernsey still has plenty more to give this year!

ICE CREAM!

31.08.18

Last day of my two weeks off with the kids before they head back to school next week.  It's been a stunner to say its the meteorological autumn tomorrow!
